The best matte moisturiser for under £5

A matte moisturiser with SPF15 that actually does what it claims to and doesn't cost the earth?! Hallelujah!

I struggle on a daily basis with the dreaded shine. Whether it's that afternoon oil-slick under my make up that needs constant powdering, or my over-producing bare face, I've never been able to find a moisturiser that does anything other than encourage it, or hold things back for about an hour only to end up worse than if I'd left well alone. Enter Botanics Shine Away Mattifying Day Cream at a purse friendly £4.99 (currently also on offer at £3.49)!

This offering from Botanics has become my daily go-to moisturiser of late as it's the best performing matte moisturiser I've ever used. Yes, my super oily skin still presents a sheen after a few hours, but it's more of a dewy effect rather than looking like I've been dunked in olive oil and for me that really is saying something.

It's so nice to be able to give my skin a post-cleanse moisture injection without suffocating it, as even though I've definitely in the oily camp I can get dry patches after exfoliating and if I use a harsh spot cream. This also seems to make a nice base for make up as it visibly clarifies and plumps up the skin ready for foundation.

It's hard to find a fault with this product as it's also really hard to find matte moisturisers that also carry an SPF!

What moisturiser do you find works best?
