Summer skin must-haves

As things are finally warming up around here, I thought it was a great time to crack out some of my favourite summer skincare.Whether I'm jetting off abroad or desperately trying to get a base tan in my back garden, these products are always on the go in the hotter months.

The best way to prepare your skin for a tan, real or fake, is to get a good few rounds of exfoliation in. These days I don't use anything with microbeads in as they aren't great for the environment and don't seem to work very well, so Lush's Ocean Salt scrub is my go to. It works wonders but it's pretty abrasive, so make sure you moisturise after and if your skin is sensitive don't scrub too hard. Also it smells like the sea.

Speaking of moisturiser, one with a gradual tan never hurt anyone. I find Dove Summer Glow to be an affordable product that actually makes a difference, without going patchy and settling into elbow and knee creases like some other cheap offerings. It's quite thick so for my face I use Simple's Sun-Kissed moisturiser, which adds a very subtle colour.

This time of year can get a bit sweaty, so I tend to forgo full coverage and opt for an oil-free BB cream, like the Garnier Skin Perfector in Light. It blends in really well and offers enough coverage that you don't feel too bare, and has an SPF of 20.

To add even more of a glow, I've gotten really addicted to the Benefit Dallas blush/bronzer. It's shimmer-free and dusted all over gives a real glow without a hint of orangeyness.

What are your go-to products for summer?
